A missing girl, a string of thefts across Europe, a religious cult, the rights of human beings, and Christmas. All of these and more are explored in this volume of Grandville. The steampunk adventures of Detective Inspector Archibald “Archie” LeBrock, a large bipedal badger. Oh I did mention the world is full of fully sentient, bipedal animals, right? April 25, 2011: Bryan Talbot's Grandville Mon Amour nominated for Best Graphic Story!

The 2011 Hugo nominees have been announced, and our own Grandville Mon Amour is up for Best Graphic Story! Initiated in 1953, the Hugo is presented each year by the World Science Fiction Society for achievements in science fiction and fantasy storytelling. The Best Graphic Story category was first included in 2009. Previous nominees include Fables, Serenity, Y: The Last Man, Batman, and more. Before you pick up a copy of Grandville Mon Amour by legendary comics scribe Bryan Talbot, check out this great blog post by Dark Horse editor Chris Warner. You'll be glad you did! Years ago, my father was in England taking a sabbatical from teaching college English. This was right after the time Dark Horse launched, and he happened to run across a London comics shop that had Dark Horse Presents #1 (featuring my Black Cross story) on display. My dad took pictures and went inside to ask the proprietors what Brit comics his comics-creator son back in the States might find interesting.
