Dark Horse is thrilled to congratulate our longtime friend and partner Stan Sakai as the first winner of the Joe Kubert Distinguished Storyteller Award presented to the celebrated cartoonist Saturday at Ontario's Comic Con Revolution. Sakai is best known as the creator of the iconic anthropomorphic rabbit ronin Usagi Yojimbo, a fan-favorite comic series that has delighted generations since 1984.

Stan Sakai's iconic series Usagi Yojimbo has been an ongoing epic masterpiece for nearly four decades. And with the rabbit ronin, Miyamoto Usagi's appearance in Nickelodeon's TMNT last summer and the option for his own TV series, now is the perfect time to introduce a new audience to the way of Sakai's anthropomorphic samurai!

This past weekend, the National Cartoonists Society awarded the Reuben for Best Graphic Novel to Ethan Young for Nanjing: The Burning City, a brutal portrayal of a dark part of World War II history.
