Dark Horse Comics

We’d just like to say thank you once again to all the staff and attendees of January 9-11’s Anime Los Angeles convention, where Dark Horse made a panel presentation. ALA is held at the opposite time of the year from L.A.’s better-known Anime Expo, and this year it had a membership cap of “only” 4000 people. 

But then, I can remember when Anime Expo had only 4000 people too, and ALA has grown every year (this was its 11th anniversary), so that in January 2016 it’s moving all the way to San Bernardino County—the city of Ontario, where it will have room to expand, as it was clear that many more people would have liked to attend than they had room for. ALA’s home until now has been the LAX Marriott, and it again brought back memories of Anime Expo, because Expo was held right nearby back in 1997 when it was ALA’s size, just down the street at the LAX Hilton. 

Everybody on the Anime Los Angeles staff was extremely helpful, and it was great to meet so many of the attendees. I also found out what that multi-colored object was, being worn by ALA’s mascot; for some reason I assumed it was a scarf. No, it’s of course a collection of ribbons worn under one’s badge; people hand them out and award them for all kinds of fan accomplishments, until you look like a moe version of George S. Patton. The image came to mind because there was a very impressive Haruna cosplayer from KanColle at ALA, but since they were in entirely different theaters, I believe peace can be maintained ^_^
