Dark Horse in the Headlines : September 2nd

09/02/2011 2:48pm

Hello Dark Horse fans!

Can you believe that September is here already? Wild. WELL! There's been tons of awesome stuff happening at Dark Horse Comics over the past couple weeks and I've boiled it down to some key links and stories for you to check out what we've got going on in the news!

Let's do this.

Dark Horse Comics: PAX PRIME

Last weekend, super editor Dave Marshall, licensing guru Nick McWhorter and myself went up to PAX Prime to check out the madness! We just announced our Art of Mass Effect book (to be released this winter) and came to represent! Digital Spy picked up on the news early! On site, we met up with Newsarama for an excellent interview with Dave Marshall.

TORWars.com did an awesome video interview with Dave, definitely check it out.

And did I mention that Nick McWhorter was on BioWareTV?

Awesome times at PAX. We'll be back next year in full force!

A Tour of Dark Horse Comics

We often get tour requests from school groups and other visitors to the Portland area to check out the Dark Horse Comics offices, but only the lucky few are chosen! (It's kind of like Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory - except replace the chocolate with comics!)

GeekWeek got a full tour and a bunch of great interviews while they were here. Make sure to read!

AVATAR: The Last Airbender

We also announced last week that we'll be publishing the next book in the AVATAR: The Last Airbender series this winter! Check out the exclusive interview on Comics Alliance!

REVIEWS, QUOTES and NOTABLES

Daily Blam gave an awesome review of Angel & Faith and Comic Book Resources got the exclusive interview to match! Great book to pick up if you're ready to start the series (which you should ;)

Geeks of Doom picked up our press release that YES, Hellboy will be returning this fall in Dark Horse Presents #7! Make sure you stay tuned!

Newsarama's excellent review of Dark Horse Presents #3:
"Dark Horse Presents defined what the modern anthology comic should look like and the latest incarnation of the series is living up to its legacy. Not every story is the next Sin City or Mask but Dark Horse Presents #3 shows that editor Mike Richardson still knows how to assemble a lot of talent between the book’s covers."

BlogCritics.org raved about Eric Powell's Chimichanga:
"I loved this book from cover to cover and already know that I will follow Eric Powell's career from now on. Just buy the blasted thing and you'll see what I'm talking about and why I want to write long and self-important sentences about it."

FANGORIA nailed one home reviewing B.P.R.D.: Hell on Earth - Monsters #2:
"With a shocking ending that changes everything, B.P.R.D.: HELL ON EARTH: MONSTERS #2 (Dark Horse Comics) is definitely an issue comic book fans should buy. "

Thanks for stopping by to end your week with "Dark Horse in the Headlines." We'll see you next week. Same time, same channel. \m/
